It’s redesigned and comes with an update that will make a difference to your work for years to come. The new MacBook Air is now powered by the first second-generation Apple Silicon processor — the M2 system-on-a-chip. And it will be available to order starting July 8.
The wedge shape is gone but that hasn’t taken anything away from the design aspect. Just 11mm thick and weighing 2.7 pounds, the new wardrobe features a dark blue called ‘midnight’ and a light gold called ‘starlight’, besides the usual silver and space grey.
Apple has said its M2 chip brings improved speed and efficiency to the new MacBook Air. The M2 makes “intensive workloads like editing complex timelines in Final Cut Pro” nearly 40 per cent faster than the previous generation and applying “filters and effects in apps like Adobe Photoshop” up to 20 per cent faster.
To make your workflow legible under bright conditions, the display will be able to achieve 500 nits of brightness and support the P3 wide colour gamut for a billion colours. There is a significant improvement in the form of the 1080p webcam. The four-speaker system is integrated into the case and offers support for Spatial Audio. A three-mic array captures audio using advanced beamforming algorithms, while the speakers produce improved stereo separation and vocal clarity.
MagSafe returns to MacBook Air, giving the device a dedicated charging port. MacBook Air also features two Thunderbolt ports for connecting a variety of accessories, and a 3.5 mm audio jack with support for high-impedance headphones. Additionally, the Magic Keyboard features a full-height function row with Touch ID, and a spacious Force Touch trackpad.
The redesigned MacBook Air will start arriving to customers worldwide on July 15. Pricing begins at Rs 119,900 and Rs 109,900 for education.
