Aranya, a brand that started as a small store in Lake Terrace and then became a go-to place for everything artistic and appealing to the aesthetically inclined at Dakshinapan and then in Jodhpur Park, has opened another store as it steps into its 25th year.

The new store housed on the ground floor of an old house, Sati Sadan, at Harish Mukherjee Road, is an extension of its repertoire and is also a treasure trove of nostalgia, sustainable living and everything that adds magic to the living space. The Prothom Ghor or the reception introduces one to old and new, curated and bespoke. Don’t miss the big display of ceramics that are designed with a lot of thought and artistic strokes before meeting the furnace. The Verandah, with a checkered floor and a big dining table at the centre, is designed to be the epicentre of conversations, big and small. It is dotted with lamps, handmade paper stationery, vintage furniture, wall decoration and antique home decor elements, some of which are only part of the 2,500sq ft store’s decor and not meant for sale. The Varendah gives way to the Boro Ghor and it promises to offer sustainable clothing for men, women and children, Aranya has signature lamps in different shapes and sizes, and furnishing options, which are a strength of the new store.

“We were looking for a place where we could showcase our home section as our Jodhpur Park store is more about clothes. Also, we were looking for an old house and when I saw this I knew this was our new address; I could see its potential. Though it was built in 1937, it is in good condition both from inside and outside. It took four months to renovate though we tried not to make much change. I liked the stained glass on the windows and it’s amazing when the sunlight passes through it. I simply matched the colour of the walls with it,” said owner Chandani Basu.

The Prothom Ghor or the reception welcomes you to the world of Aranya, which is charming, artistic and feels like home.
