Interdisciplinary artiste Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee has embarked upon his maiden digital short film titled Home. The film is mostly a social experiment with poetry and is being directed by Sujoy and mentored by Sohag Sen.

The quest for a home is eternal. To some it’s a refuge and to a lot of us it’s probably the nest we all want to belong to. This short is about that search and a transcendence in that journey. Inspired by a poem by Arundhati Subramaniam, Home is about women sharing their ecstasies, uncertainties, solitude, libido and, of course, a friendship with oneself. The film is a string of images and conversations in silence that builds up and even deconstructs the verse.

The film, comprising actors such as Sudipa Basu, Sohag Sen, Tuhina Das, Ratashree, Sauraseni Maitra, Sohini Sarkar, Aparajita Auddy, Bidipta Chakraborty, Chandreyee Ghosh, Suparna Datta and Subhasree Patel, had its poster unveiling and teaser launch on November 1. Actress Anashua Majumdar and Rituparna Sengupta, and poet Subodh Sarkar presented the trailer.

The film has been produced by Paromita Lahiri Banerjee, Deepak Bajaj, Preetam Mukherjee and Aritra Sen

Talking about the film, Sujoy said: “Glad that we could do the screening inspite of a huge personal loss. I hope everyone finds their home and hope in our labour of love. Immensely grateful to Sohag Sen for mentoring the film.”
