April is all about blooms and as the weather leans on to warmer degrees, Nava Varsha comes in as a festive break. What’s a festivity without some apt decor to lift up one’s mood, we say.

The Telegraph along with Pepsi Kalwani Hazrat and Shiv Karira of UD Events and More bring together a simple yet stunning decor mood board that you can fix up in no time, with affordable as well as easily available elements. Let’s check it out!

SMALL WALL DECOR

For a smaller decor space, use these cane rice sieves or kulo as wall art. You can choose to paint them or write greetings on them as well. Once again, banana leaves, clay pots, marigold flowers, and fresh flowers complete the look.

BIG WALL DECOR:

Here is an example of a lush and ecofriendly decor setup. You need banana leaves stacked up and pinned against a board. Try vertical, horizontal, or diagonal patterns, depending on your mood.

Simple marigold garlands can be hung to add some colour. Clay pots are also easily available at most local bazaars and markets. You can choose to buy plain ones and decorate it at home, or even buy painted ones. Rajinigandha flowers add freshness to the setup. Use wheat sticks, mango leaves, betel leaves, and any other flowers to add some more elements.

CUTESY CORNERS

A good way to enhance your corners it to stack up these woven baskets. You can add mini floral arrangements, as well as bangles, glass candles etc on the side. We love the use of pickle jars as vases. A simple jute rung works as a good base.

PILLAR DECOR

If you have any elongated space at home such as a pillar, or even walls are good for this, go for these quintessentially Bengal-style hand-fans fixed on the wall. Add banana leaves or any other flower to complement the colours.

TABLE DECOR

Set up your table full of delectable treats in this fun and colourful way, and wow your guests. Use a large jute/cane/cloth table mat. Add coloured clay pots in a variety of prints, they add a fun element. You can even use them as serving bowls. Lay your dishes on banana leaves. We like how the age-old lantern encircled with flowers makes its way into the arrangement. Rajnigandha sticks, marigold flowers and other yellow/ orange blooms add to the occasion

“I feel that this decor can easily be done by even the most novice of people who know nothing about decorating a space. It’s fun, it’s fresh, and we loved setting it up,” said Pepsi Kalwani Hazrat of UD Events and More.

“The best part about such set-ups is that you really don’t have to spend too much time or money. Be it the local leaves, flowers, baskets and pots, all are readily available across markets, and nominally priced,” added Shiv Karira, from UD Events and More.
