Shimmer, sparkle, glitz and shine — these are the things that are rocking up quite a magnificent trend in the fashion world. It’s all about bringing back the ’70s charm, the vintage glam and the Happy Birthday Mr. President Marilyn Monroe vibe, and we can’t get enough.

From sparkling bodices to sequin-gilded silhouettes, all the stars on Instagram are quite literally shining on our feeds. While there are too many glam looks to pick from, here are some of the outfits that we absolutely adored and a few glitter trends that you could indulge in…

Chandelier dress

You must’ve seen the much-talked-about chandelier dress worn by Kim Kardashian at the 2019 MET Gala. Well, since she created quite a stir in that look, this aesthetic seems to have made its way to Bollywood too. To put it simply, the chandelier dress is a nude-coloured dress with baroque embellishments that make it look regal and rich. Ananya Panday and Nora Fatehi’s looks are glam, with a healthy serving of sexy on the side.

Low-key shine

This glitter trend is subtle, full of retro oomph reminiscent of the rock-’n’-roll era and we’re not complaining. Janhvi Kapoor’s deep V neck bodycon ensemble has muted tones of maroon and pink, which blend together to create the magic of a magnificent dual-tone colour on the glitter.

On the other hand, Madhuri Dixit Nene’s purple party pants are almost like an homage to David Bowie. The cape-like structured top gives the look volume, balancing out the glitter. The best part? The outfits only shimmer and shine under bright light making for an entrance fit for a diva.

Monochrome sparkle

If you want to sport a sparkly look like the glitterati (all puns intended!), you cannot miss out on the monochrome sparkle. From bright red to sea green, the sparkle shines through in almost all colours. Take cue from Kiara Advani and Malaika Arora, both of whom look stunning in their shimmer OOTDs. The glitter fabric is so extra that the detailing on the dresses are simple along with minimal makeup.

Matte gold glitter

If glitter trends intimidate you, fear not! Matte gold is here. The nude matte gold hue gives the opportunity to take the look up as many notches as you may want. Mouni Roy’s TranHung floral embellished off-shoulder gown is subtle, while having minute detailing in green, red and lavender.

Divya Khosla Kumar’s oh-so-sexy backless dress is another great way to adorn matte gold glitter. The dress is seemingly simple till the light hits it, and then all the luxe exuberates from it. The slick, wet hair look and smoky shimmer lined makeup ties the whole look in a neat sensual bow.

Embellished black

If Marilyn Monroe says that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, who are we to argue? Bring out the jewels this season and wear them with black. The always-chic and never-out-of-style black gives the shiny crystals and diamonds the perfect canvas to play around in. Hailey Bieber’s crystal bralette is fun and flirty while Alicia Keys’ glitter studded look is pure #GirlBoss. The sheer embellished top with the blazer looks sleek while the diamonds in her cornrows is a jaw-dropping addition to the look.
