Rohan Pariyar's atelier in Ekdalia transported everyone to the French Rennaissance era with women paying a visit to the courtier to prepare for the grand ball. Rohan's new edit Louis XVI and Kolkata International Women's Club (KIWC) recreated the tradition with 'A Day at the Modiste', checking fabrics, choosing their corsets and giving their measurement to look their best at the upcoming Monsoon Ball, to be held on September 23 at Hyatt Regency Kolkata. Four women from KIWC slipped into pieces from Louis XIV and recreated the looks exclusively for t2.

Solveig embraced oomph, chic and royalty with the little black corset, which is the bestseller of the season. Paired here with a puffed sleeve and a black skirt with a robè a la Polonaise crinoline, this look is an eye-catcher.

Talking about the genesis of Lous XIV, designer Rohan Pariyar said, "While designing the next collection, which is Louis XIV, I came across the KIWC's Monsoon Ball through their president Iryna Vikyrchak. The fact that from their inception, balls were magnificent events on a lavish setting with opulent clothing is recorded in history. But in the modern world, balls have taken a different turn and so has the fashion. This event was curated with the idea of representing the grandeur of the silhouettes from the Renaissance French era. Although not complete, the shapes and style were meant to enrich the audience on the role and importance of corsets and their supporting crinolines for all body shapes. The corsets have been paired with saris and skirts for the modern-day wardrobes as well today. But this is where they originally come from."

Iryna is wearing a lovely 'The Garden of Versailles' corset, a piece from Rohan's latest collection, Louis the XIV. This brocade and hand-embroidered corset, inspired by the gardens of Versailles, is paired with a voluminous golden skirt delivering a dash of sophistication. "Rohan and I planned this as a pre-ball event to make reference to how it was done in the 15-16th century when women would get ready for the ball, which was the biggest social event of their lives. They would visit their tailors and try different dresses and it would take months to get ready. We have also started the ticket sale for the Monsoon Ball," said Iryna.

Ganna wore a sapphire blue corset which is paired with a robè a la Francaise crinoline skirt in hues of blue and white.
