She loves the fragrances of jasmine, mogra and lilies and sandalwood and cedarwood notes appeal to her a lot. ‘National crush’ Rashmika Mandanna, the brand ambassador for EVA, ‘India’s first women’s deodorant brand with a non-alcoholic ingredient base’, took some questions from The Telegraph on email on her favourite aromas and what perfumes she likes on a man.

How was it working on the EVA campaign that champions self-confidence?

Working on the campaign was a great experience as EVA’s scents are fun and playful at its core. I love their empowering message of Special-Happens, with EVA and primarily focuses on bringing self-love to the epicenter of one’s life. I have enjoyed every part of this association and look forward to making more remarkable shifts that help empower young girls.

Deo or perfume... which would you choose for what occasion?

If I have to choose between the two, I would definitely choose deodorant. It gives me the much-needed freshness I need to sustain a hectic day of work and outdoor shoots. My go-to deodorant is the EVA Doll or Sweet fragrances that give an instant mood uplift with its fresh fragrance. I do love spritzing on some perfumes as well from my personal perfume collection whenever I am out for a red carpet event or a formal dinner.

What are your favourite fragrances (scents) of all time?

I love the floral notes from fragrant flowers like jasmine, mogra and lilies that are constituents of the Doll and Sweet deodorants by EVA. They remind me of my grandmother’s garden full of fresh flowers.

What’s the one scent that’s closest to your personality?

I think I resonate with a rose fragrance for its sweet musky smell and elegance, as I am someone who personally enjoys everything I do and I am in the best of my moods on most occasions. This explains a lot about the pink deodorant you’ll find in my bag too.

What kind of perfume do you like on a man?

I appreciate a strong musky smell with hints of an earthy or woody scent. I believe that a man’s scent speaks volumes about his personality, hence it must make a statement.

Talking of scents, what is the one fragrance you associate your hometown in Karnataka with?

The subtle notes of sandalwood and cedarwood fragrance are very close to my senses as it makes me feel like I am in my comfort zone. I always try to make it a part of my home interiors.

And, Mumbai?

While Mumbai itself has a different wind that blows, filled with so much love and excitement, I feel EVA’s Groove would be the perfect deodorant that would resonate with Mumbai. The combination of apple, lavender and patchouli moss leaves a trail of freshness.
