I have always believed that Samsung smartwatches are the best you can get in Android for everyday use. The smartwatches from Samsung avoid everything discouraging rival brands (barring Apple and Garmin) offer — bad design, bad hardware and bad UI. From the few hours we had with the Galaxy Watch6 Classic and Galaxy Watch6, there are a lot more than a handful of tweaks.
You can do a lot on the watch
Instead of giving you a rundown of the spec sheet, allow me to give you an example of what’s possible with the new smartwatches. It has all the potential to become the best Android smartwatch for users who want superior connectivity, robust third-party apps and advanced health features.
For example, you are a businessman or manage a department. There will be multiple tasks to manage. Say you have an app with a dashboard on your phone that shows job postings, department members who are asking for time off… rather than using the phone all the time, you can get all the same info on the watch through an app. The actions are similar to what you could have taken on the app that’s loaded on the phone.

UI and features
Most Android smartwatches have a long way to go on the readability front. Samsung has spent enough time improving the UI. Not only is it easier to type on small screens, but you can also use dictation and swipe-to-type options. The display is top-of-the-line and everything is clearly visible.
In terms of fitness, all the previous features and exercise-related chops are there. But more stress is being put on how well it can measure sleep. The sleep metrics that the new smartwatch offers are mind-boggling (sleep score factors, sleep messages, sleep consistency and sleep coaching). Plus, it is capable of checking for irregular heart rhythm which is AFib. Third, when you are sleeping the watch can record your skin temperature and give you health insights based on that. Take the example of menstrual cycle prediction.
There is also a fall detection mode. Whether you are standing or exercising and in case you are falling, the watch is intelligent enough to know that you are falling and can contact either a medical emergency number or any contact number that you have set in the app.
I am pleasantly surprised by the tight integration of the smartwatch with Galaxy phones and tablets.
The look….
In terms of design, the display gets 20 per cent brighter. All interactions with the watch appear smoother because of the processor (Exynos W930 dual-core, 1.4Ghz). On top of that the bezel is very slim… 30 per cent slimmer on the Watch6. And the rotating bezel is 15 per cent slimmer on the Watch6 Classic. There will, of course, be a number of watch faces and straps available. Also, you will be able to control the camera of your phone. There is find my phone as a feature. And just to drive home the point, the brighter display will help you work on Google apps as well as a plethora of third-party apps.
