Film-maker Raajhorshee De organised the first press conference of his upcoming film Mayaa, an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The ensemble cast featuring 19 actors assembled for an evening of camaraderie and fun at the Five Mad Men gastropub in Salt Lake’s Sector V on September 1.

All the actors introduced their on-screen characters, which was followed by a very interesting BTS (behind-the-scenes) screening from the making of the film. The actors also shared their experiences of working in the movie. The first look of Mayaa was screened through two videos. Most of the actors turned up in red to match the theme of the movie. Macbeth is about conspiracy, murder and bloodshed and its adaptation Mayaa has been done from a woman’s perspective and has women empowerment and revolution as its central themes — the shift of the power equation has been symbolised by the colour red. The official logo of Mayaa was also launched on the occasion, followed by cocktail and dinner.

Raajhorshee De told t2: “Debdas Banerjee and Sharmila Banerjee (producers) are like our guardians. And I am blessed that my actors and crew love me so much. Mayaa is my toughest film till date and for every film-maker or actor, it’s a dream to work on a text inspired from William Shakespeare. So it’s a dream come true.”
