Trust Kolkata peeps to dress up in their gory best and step out for a night of revelry. For Halloween this year, city crawlers took advantage of the weekend and extended the spooky celebrations. From décor to costumes, cocktails and music, Kolkata nightclubs, too, put their scariest foot forward to give the party people a thrilling experience. When it comes to theme parties, Phoenix always manages to pull in a dedicated crowd. Which is why, to celebrate Halloween, the nightclub was packed with scary monsters… and nice sprites! Geddit? On October 28, the club hosted ‘The Boogie House’, which was a Halloween-themed costume party where revelers came in their spookiest outfits and did a ‘scary dance’. The boys on deck duties were Rishiboy, Rudra, Azure and Dubthirsty. Since one night was not enough for the partygoers, Phoenix hosted a second night, called ‘Hustlin Halloween’, where Rishiboy and Deejay Panic played a hip-hop set.

You don’t have to go to Roxy twice to know that the club takes Halloween seriously. As you enter, you feel like you are walking into a haunted house because of how well they decorate – red hues, skulls, dead trees with roots going everywhere, worn-out cages – and do not get us started on the costumes that turn up for the party. The staff also get in on the fun with their own costumes so they can serve you with a thrill. Roxy held their Halloween celebrations from October 28 to 31 with costume parties with DJs Joy, Sumyt and Vinay.

The Motor Works and Brewing Company’s way of celebrating Halloween was simply to give their customers a good time. They hosted party nights from October 27 to 31, where DJ Ssunny helmed the console with Bollywood and commercial music. While red laser beams gave the scene a Halloween-y theme, the place also had festive décor with carved pumpkins and a specially curated menu with cocktails like The Conjuring and Killer Clowns.

Toyroom, Camac Street

Just because Halloween is all about the spooks, that doesn’t mean you can’t turn the scene around to a happy and quirky one as well. Sarvem Shah, of Unfinished event company, put this idea together and hosted Halloween With Frankenstein at Toyroom on October 27. The night was all things hip-hop as Saif Side and Gourav played some tunes while the dancers did their zombie dance. The place was done up in spider webs, cute ghosts, skulls, stickers and the staff had put on some Zombie makeup. There were also faux plastic body parts scattered around the club because… it was Halloween after all!
