Jennifer Aniston’s hair has a fandom of its own. So, when the Friends star recommended an after-shower hair tool, we knew we had to take it seriously. The actor recently raved on her Instagram handle about a wet brush – Wet Brush Pro Flex Dry – that’s supposed to be the solution to every tangled nightmare. Not only does it reduce hair loss, prevent breakages and strengthen strands, it also doubles up as a scalp massager. The brush’s IntelliFlex bristles glide through tangles with 45% less damage.

My Kolkata combed the city and believe it or not, we found a fitting substitute for the holy grail! That too from the same label.

Health & Glow, a chain of stores selling beauty staples in Kolkata stocks up on a detangler hairbrush from the Wet Brush label. The Wet Brush Nea Blue Speed Dry Brush mirrors the advantages of Aniston’s go-to pick. Health & Glow has locations all over the city in large shopping complexes such as South City Mall, Acropolis and City Centre II. A few independent stores in the localities of Salt Lake and Rajarhat also stock them.

The brush retails at the affordable price of Rs. 749.

What’s so special about this wet brush?

The wet brush is curated using special bristles (that are very flexible and come with bubble tops) and an open vented surface, which minimises hair damage. The flexible nature of the bristles allows the wet brush to detangle knots without any breakages while the open-vented surface helps the hair to dry faster — reducing the scope for hair damage.

“These detangling brushes, with their current technology, are a big help. I find that it’s much easier to comb hair using a wet brush. The spacing of the bristles, the bubble tops that cover the head of each bristle and the fact that they’re firm and yet flexible, is the reason it’s easier to detangle hair using it,” says Priscilla Corner, a hairstylist and hair expert in Kolkata.

Aniston herself recently dropped her haircare brand LolaVie and while the brand isn’t available in India yet, these pointers from haircare guru Priscilla Corner can keep you on track if you fancy hair as chic as Rachel’s:

  • When it comes to your hair, just remember three things – be gentle, be kind and go bespoke.
  • Pay attention to your hair. Take note of any kind of changes you’re experiencing and try to tweak your routine to complement them.
  • If you have treated your hair in any way — be it hair colour or styling, there’s a whole range of shampoos and conditioners specific to that. Use those!
  • There are a variety of methods for shampooing your hair — from reverse conditioning to co-shampooing. Try them all out, see what works best for you and follow that regime.
  • While styling your hair, pre-styling and post-styling products are a must.
  • It is essential that your hair care routine be suited to your hair and caters to your own specific needs. Visit a stylist and let them guide you in the beginning, especially if you have combination hair.
