A wedding is a roller-coaster ride, especially for the bride, groom and of course their closest gang. You are so exhausted with the preparations that “glowing like a new bride” seems so far from the truth. You have so much to do that end of the day all you want to do is, sleep. Recently when I got an opportunity to enjoy a spacation at ITC Sonar, I was excited, because that’s all I actually honestly needed, some pampering. During my overnight stay at the star hotel, I spent most of my time at Kaya Kalp - The Spa at ITC Sonar that offers a delightful retreat from the pressing world. Spread across 15,000sq ft with indoor and outdoor pavilions, the spa is a fine blend of proximity to nature where one could spend time on the lounge beds overlooking the fountains or enjoy the romance and quietude.

Rejuvenated and relaxed, t2 highlights what we loved the most.

Body spa: There’s a wide range of options available that includes a variety of Bengal products. They are made using natural and age-old ingredients and are exclusively available at the Kaya Kalp. These signature items have been carefully crafted with a comprehensive understanding of the therapeutic goodness of Indian herbs and rich essential oils. One such included a deep nourishing body scrub made of Gobindho Bhog Chal followed by a wrap of Sunderban honey to nourish your body. This was followed by a soothing Mandarin oil therapy and a nourishing homegrown pomelo, coconut and mint facial which left my skin feeling baby soft and hydrated.A hair spa adds to the experience. Think nolen gur, Mandarin orange and curd being massaged into your hair while you sip on a warm cup of green tea. #unique

One of the body scrubs we opted for had coffee as the main ingredient. Known to be beneficial for skin, the coffee scrub helped in removing moisture and toxins from areas that retain fluids, such as the lower legs and ankles. For the uninitiated, coffee’s anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial ingredients as well as its pore-unclogging properties helps minimise breakouts, reduces redness, soothes the skin, and keeps it clear. The pack had mandarin, where the citrus pinch tightened pores and evened out the skin tone and I could almost hear my skin say ‘thank you’ after the session.

Hotel speak: “Kaya Kalp-The Spa at ITC Sonar draws its inspiration from the tranquility of our lily-laden water gardens. Combining this with the traditions of India’s beauty rituals, the spa offers complete rejuvenation. International therapies and indigenous journeys and treatments complement the experience,” said Nitin Bahl, hotel manager, ITC Sonar.

Food: A healthy session at the spa includes healthy eating! Our skin is a mirror of our lifestyle and post my session I was offered Wellness Cuisine at the Eden Pavilion, a bespoke menu that includes dishes made with seasonal, forgotten grains and local ingredients using western methods of cooking. I opted for Grilled Fish with veggies that I polished off in seconds! If you want to indulge in the same, you can do so with a prior reservation.

Salon: The swanky salon offers a number of services by experts, adhering to techniques with skill. We indulged in hair spa, pedicure, manicure and a head massage that instantly kicked out stress!
