Diwali is all about going OTT (over the top) with the glam quotient when it comes to styling the look. It is a festival for dressing up with a hint of dazzle, be it in clothes, jewellery or make-up. In this Diwali-special shoot for t2, actress Rituparna Sengupta dazzles in super glam outfits from Sprish. Styling, hair and make-up duo Rajat and Kaushik glammed her up in a colour palette ranging from charming and subdued pinks to a neon green. A touch of shine and shimmer on the simple make-up accentuates the looks. The shoot set, conceptualised by Jeena Mitra Banik, highlights Diwali essentials adding to the dazzle and vibrant hues of the festival — marigold, diyas, fairy lights and fireworks. The beautiful garden at Bishnu Bijoli Garden added to the overall vibe. Rituparna with her ever-shining grace and charming smile lit up each frame. A t2 lookbook.

(From left) Diwali is an apt occasion for channelling glam in a lehnga, too, ditching the saris. Rituparna chose comfort for the lehnga look. The ajrakh blouse is paired with a muted pink cotton skirt designed with foil print. The dupatta around the hands, a statement neckpiece, the hair worn open and nude make-up complete the look.

Rituparna exudes elegance and an ultra-glam vibe in this easybreezy A-line dress. The flowy silhouette of this silk embroidered gown in peach adds grace to the look and makes it a versatile addition in the wardrobe for various occasions. The hair tied into a bun and the make-up in shades of pink complement the look.

Trends are on point in this neon green look. The resham sari is designed with golden woven pattern and is embellished with a cape to elevate the style quotient. Chunky jhumkas and bangles, sideparted hair and bold eyes complete the look.

(L-R) HAIR, MAKE-UP AND STYLING NOTES:

“Diwali means the beginning of the party season. So, we have chosen the silhouettes accordingly — gorgeous and glam. We also chose cape-style silhouettes to give a trendy touch to the lookbook. Since the looks are all about glam, I accessorised them with diamond and polki jewellery from Avama,” said Rajat. Talking about the hair and make-up, Kaushik said: “The looks for Diwali should be very glam and elegant with simple make-up. We have used luminous foundation for the base and a powder compact for a more natural look. On the eyes, we have used brown, wine, brown-rose and matte shadow shades. Kajal, mascara and a tinge of metallic highlight enhance the look. For the cheeks and lips, we opted for pink, peach, rosy bronze and a mix of pink and brown. We chose tied up and stylish buns and soft curls for the hairstyle.”

DESIGNER SPEAK:

“I am an Odissi dancer, my deep immersion in this classical dance form cultivated a profound appreciation for Indian traditions, inspiring me to address the fading glory of traditional weaving techniques. Fuelled by my passion for Odissi and a desire to support local artisans, I founded a brand that preserves cultural heritage through sustainable practices,” said Sulagna Bhattacharya about her passion project Sprish. Talking about her collection, she said: “My collections pay homage to the fluidity of Odissi, raising awareness about the importance of safeguarding our traditions in the face of modernisation. This journey harmoniously blends dance and fashion, serving as a heartfelt tribute to timeless Indian artistry and weaving heritage of India. It is heartwarming to see young people imbibe so much of the traditional weaves with style bends this festive season. Our weavers and artisans shall live another day and seasons more. My celebration of Diwali is through colourful weaves of India, handmade couture, artisans at work on them and contemporary silhouette styles. The idea is to present a portrait of grace, elegance and beauty. And who better than the Queen of our Bengali films, Rituparna Sengupta, to be the muse?

“Diwali is all about marigold flowers, lights and diyas. Traditional weaves with a twist of what we have in our wardrobe to go with our new buys has been my tryst with Sulagna to present Rituparna Sengupta this Diwali. The beautiful aesthetic and elaborate setting of the location and festival jewellery from Avama complimented the entire look. Kaushik & Rajat worked their magic, as expected, to the T,” said Jeena Mitra Banik, who conceptualised the shoot.
