The Calcutta Swimming Club Ladies Wing in association with TT presented Secret of Happiness with personal coach and monk Gaur Gopal Das on February 5. Gaurav Chokhany, the entertainment chairman of the club, penned a piece on his biggest takeaways from the session:
Having heard Gaur Gopal Dasji across various social media platforms, the builtup excitement to hear him in person was immense. On the day of the event, I reached well in time in anticipation of getting a seat as close to the stage but was not surprised to find a packed house with people queuing up much before the gates had officially opened up for members and their guests.
To everyone’s dismay though, his flight was delayed, which eventually led to a considerable delay in the programme, which very naturally got the packed house restless. The crowd consisted of enthused people of all ages.
However, as soon as he got on stage, the murmurs stopped and the crowd began to get enchanted by the mesmerising communication of Gaur Gopal Das. It was as if the vibe of the place had changed in a matter of five minutes.
CSC president Nitin C Dani attended the session.
“We all have some soul searching to do in life when things are not going right for us. The answer to all this lies in our mind and with proper guidance the mind can be awakened. Spiritual life coach Gaur Gopal Das imparts simple and practical spiritual insights to awaken people’s minds. He stresses on not overburdening our minds by worrying too much and focus on the positive and not negative,” said Jyotee Khaitan.
His insights into the mundane saying of being “happy” was indeed food for thought and compelled the audience to introspect further into their everyday lives and realise that “every moment well lived is the secret to overall wellbeing”. Simple tips from the man with a downright practical approach, I am sure would have helped the individuals who attended the session along with their families.
Happiness for individuals is a choice. One has to make the choice to be happy despite the turbulence around and that happy state of mind prevents us from making irrational decisions during trying times.
Later in the evening, well after the programme had ended, I could still feel the resonance of the vibe that was present there and the inner meaning of the common phrase of the old and wise dawned upon me: ‘Chinta chita samaan hoti hai’.
