Gargee’s Panchami look is simple in a Kotpad sari worn in an atpourey drape. This tribal weave from Koraput district of Odisha is designed with vegetable dye and is handwoven by the Mirgan community. The white blouse complements the black phoda kumbha border and intricate motifs all over. Classy silver jewellery pieces from Glow N Glitter elevate the festive glam quotient, with the hair worn open and a clean day make-up look.

Joyee, the quaint boutique store that opened doors in Harish Mukherjee Road last year, is ready to launch their Durga Puja ’23 collection. The focus of this three-year-old Calcutta brand has always been to present regional handloom and powerloom varieties from all over the country. Their 2023 Puja curation adds more places from the Indian map to their collection. With a focus on handloom this year, the medley of regional specialities highlights the traditional textile heritage of our country while presenting them through a curated collection of styles appealing to the contemporary generation. Ahead of the collection launch in their two-day exhibition at Ganges Art Gallery on September 9 and 10, t2 gets an exclusive sneak peek, with actress Gargee Roychowdhury flaunting the drapes:

What better than this elegant beige and silver zari sari to start the Pujas with? A perfect Sashthi look, this silk-cotton Maheshwari sari from Madhya Pradesh is designed with chic finesse with silver zari stripes all over. A statement silver neckpiece from Glow N Glitter, trendy long jhumka earrings and white roses in the bun enhance the chic vibe. The pink lips and the small bindi complete the look.

Gargee goes all glam for the Navami night look in this handwoven traditional Kanjeevaram silk, designed with Mayil or peacock, chakram or throwing weapon, kattams or checks and a rich zari-woven pallu. Gold jewellery from Abira Jewellers, mogra on the bun and the red bindi add to the festive vibe.

“Our Durga Puja collection this year comprises Kanjeevaram, Chanderi, Maheshwari, Pochampally, Garad and Batik. Apart from these, we are introducing two new collections — Sanganeri of Rajasthan and Kotpad from Odisha. The highlight of our offline exhibition and sale, Saree Mela, will be the handcrafted weaves from different parts of the country. Our focus this year is to present various types of handloom saris to our patrons,” said Sinjini Biswas (right) and Joyeeta Biswas, partners of Joyee.
