The Cannes Film Festival is a celebration of great cinema, but it also sees the attendees bring their A-game to the red carpet. And this year, we couldn’t help but go gaga over the looks served up by Deepika Padukone. DP was a jury member at the 75th edition of the festival, and she slayed.

From her dance to Ghoomar, sung by folk singer Mame Khan at the inauguration of the India Pavilion, to her outfits — the actor’s Cannes sojourn has been getting a lot of attention.

Take a look at some of the looks the actress served at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.

Sequin Glamour

For the opening ceremony she chose to wear the Bengal Tiger couture conceptualised by Sabyasachi as part of his iconic Aakash Tara collection. The bold gold-and-black sequin made her shine on the red carpet.

Her intense, retro kohl eye make-up, with a nude lip and statement jewellery from Sabyasachi Jewellery’s Bengal Royale Collection went perfectly with the sari. The headband she wore paid homage to the traditional Indian matha patti headpiece with Art Nouveau detailing, while the chandelier earrings update a classic with an Art Deco gaze, as shared by the designer on Instagram.

After a big debut at the MET Gala this year with Natasha Poonawalla’s golden number, the Sabyasachi sari — because those are a brand of their own — was on the red carpet again.

In fact, Aditi Rao Hydari was also seen sporting an ivory organza number at the festival, along with another Sabyasachi creation, a tulle portrait gown in black, for a second appearance.

Regal Resort

For the jury photocall, Deepika Padukone wore Sabyasachi a second time and it was an absolute winner. For this chic resort look, she picked an easy-breezy printed Mysore silk shirt and pleated wool trousers from Sabyasachi’s Global Resort series, Tropic of Calcutta collection.

The star of the show however was the regal necklace. The delicately crafted piece called Lucknow Rose, is inspired by a Maharani necklace and has been crafted with precious gems including uncut diamonds, sapphires, pearls, rubies, and rhodolites.

LV Red

The Gehraiyaan actress was announced as the Louis Vuitton House Ambassador this year, so it’s only fitting that she wore a Nicolas Ghesquiere custom-made red LV gown for the screening of Armageddon Time. The floor-length number with soft peplum top with a plunging neckline and noodle straps, and a voluminous skirt was flattering with a dose of sultry oomph.

Her slicked back ponytail added an edge to the look and the dazzling Cartier necklace tied it all together. Red lips, and minimal make-up made the whole outfit shine.

OTT Tangerine

At the premiere of The Innocent, the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actress donned another custom-made gown, this time by Ashi Studio. Orange may not be the red-carpet colour of choice for many, but DP’s structured gown was playful yet elegant. Her small struggles with the dress as she posed on the red carpet were far from embarrassing. Trolls aside, for many it was reassuring that the diva could have a very human struggle.

Ashi Studio is known for their ingenious fabric manipulation in their creations that creates fantastical drapes. The dress, with a corset-style bodice that flows into a larger-than-life crafted one-shoulder cape stood out on the carpet. The warm tones of her make-up and a classic messy bun and jade earrings were the perfect choice. As husband Ranvir Singh commented on her Instagram post, “This is everything!”

Flower Power

When in doubt, florals might be the route to go. The Richard Quinn tea-length dress that the actress wore for the Cannes City Hall lunch event was fun and flirty, and with DP twirling in the dress, it made it that much more adorable.

The green-pink tones of the floral design are offset by just a peek of black on the corset-style top, but the best part was definitely the matchy-matchy shoes!

Straight off the runway

Padukone wore another Louis Vuitton creation and this time it was straight off the runway from their Cruise 2022 collection. Another black-and-gold number, this one brought all the drama with its OTT sleeves. #Glam all the way and a fitting ensemble for the Vanity Fair x Louis Vuitton event.

Vintage Charm

For the closing ceremony, Deepika paid homage to the classic Indian sari again, looking ethereal in a custom Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla ivory sari. It was draped by Kolkata’s very own Dolly Jain!

The ruffled sari was minimalist chic and the bralette-style blouse with the pearl collar by the couturiers gave the ensemble just the right touch of drama it needed.
