The Constitution of India, an important document shaping the framework and fundamental principles of the Indian government, stands as the world’s lengthiest written constitution. Comprising 395 articles, 12 schedules, 5 appendices, and 103 amendments, it holds a unique place in legal history. However, have you ever wondered about its original appearance? The Constitution of India is originally handwritten in two languages: Hindi and English. The original copies of the Constitution are kept in special helium-filled cases in the Parliament. It is written in calligraphy and has illustrations by the renowned Indian artists like Nandalal Bose and Beohar Rammanohar Sinha. The illustrations depict various aspects of history, culture and heritage, such as the Indus Valley Civilization, the Mauryan Empire, the Bhakti movement, the freedom struggle and the national emblem. Paying homage to the contributions of Indian women across various fields, this campaign has got an overwhelming response from netizens. Celebrities and women from diverse backgrounds have joined the movement, sharing pictures and stories about themselves, adorned in saris under the hashtag. On the occasion of Republic Day, the trend once again gained momentum on the internet after the Ministry of Culture posted a map of India depicting types of Indian saris from each state.
