We loved the remaining romance of the bridal mehndi on actress Darshana Banik’s hands when we met her for this shoot at Octa on Park Street. The pretty actress tied the knot with fellow actor Saurav Das on December 15 and when we called her requesting to shoot a party lookbook a couple of days ahead of her wedding, almost expected a ‘no’ for an answer, given that there was so much that she had on her plate, Darshana was a total sport and accepted our request. Shoot day saw Darshana don party pieces by Suravika. S. In between shots, Suravika shared how she always nurtured a passion for fashion and despite studying economics and finance in Singapore, she knew that fashion was going to be a part of her life. “I have been designing clothes since I was in school, for my friends, myself and my family members and I still have the pieces that I created,” smiled Suravika.
Darshana’s looks were simple and effective and high on subtle glamour, just right for the season. A t2 album.
Bright and beautiful, Darshana looked radiant in this party staple — a shimmery dress with a geometric pattern, giving it a disco feel
Darshana cut a chic picture in this metallic jumpsuit. We liked how subtle the makeup was. The slightly smudged eyes lent the necessary drama
Edgy-smart and cool, we liked the play of shapes in this dress. The high bun accentuates the drama of the outfit
High on shine, this salmon pink number was fuss-free and instant glam. Darshana sported a high ponytail and statement earrings to complete the look
"The collection is called Revel. The mood of the collection is vibrant, with a lot of metallics, spandex, dual-tinted fabrics and glitter. We are a contemporary brand, about five years old and the Indian clothes that we do are also contemporary. It’s very recently that we got into Westerns, a year back. My first collection was a power suit collection and the next collection is party, and hopefully going into the future, we’d like to experiment with resort wear and other aspects of Western clothing", said Suravika S, designer.
"The collection is very happy and it’s my vibe. I have styled Darshana so many times that I wanted to do something different with her for this t2 shoot. We have gone for straight hair or a ponytail, styles I don’t generally try on Darshana. In terms of accessories, we have mixed and matched and have kept it more or less subtle because the outfits were high on shine", said Kiara Sen, stylist.
