Two things come to mind when talking about the new Samsung Galaxy S22+, which will go on sale in a few days time — fast and reliable. Though these are just first impressions and you have to wait for a few days to get an in-depth review, this is the phone which most people will end up buying.
It looks very different from the box-y Galaxy S22 Ultra with its S Pen. Yet, the same luxurious feel is also here. Coming with a Gorilla Glass Victus Plus on the front and back, there is protection all around in case of accidental drops. The phone feels solid and the design remains bold with a camera housing that blends into the rear panel.
For Samsung, the Galaxy S series has always been about lifestyle, with the best camera and software experience. All that is found on the Galaxy S22+. The main camera is a fantastic 50MP snapper which has a 23 per cent larger sensor than last year’s S21. For those distant shots, there is 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and a 12MP ultra-wide which has a wide field of view while colours are absolutely spot on. The big tech upgrade is how Samsung flagship phones capture the night. The pictures are not only brighter but there is also sharpness, perfect colour tone and more details are retained than on rival phones. We are also noticing far better performance in the bokeh department where a subject gets separated from the background better than on most phones.

After the unboxing, one thing I noticed is that motion smoothness is automatically set to 120Hz unlike on other phones where you have to switch it on manually. The peak brightness seems to be the same as on the Ultra, which is 1,750nits.
Powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the phone is working flawlessly when it comes to gaming as well as demanding tasks. Needlessly to say, there is One UI 4.0 and Android 12 out of the box and during the review, we have already received a software upgrade. Though it’s a 4,500mAh battery, we are easily managing long hours but a better understanding of the battery can be had after using it for a more days.
First impressions? Samsung Galaxy S22+ has all that you can ask from a flagship phone.
