A fashionista and a popular party face, Davina Thacker’s style game is always on point. The diva, who is also a director at her family-run firm, Thacker Dairy, got into four looks for The Telegraph exclusive shoot in clothes by designer label Papa Don’t Preach. Post-shoot, The Telegraph sat down with Davina for a chat where she spoke about her style and also what it takes to be a good host.
Davina, you are always so well turned out. Tell us what’s your style mantra?
My simple style mantras are to always keep smiling, keep a consistency for daily habits such as eat food with the mood in mind. I love carbs, it gives me energy. I sleep and wake-up with loads of gratitude.
Also, I like comfort over styles. I wear what is comfortable and suits my persona. I don’t believe in trends.
But yes I love experimenting.
I know my body type and try and stick to outfits that I can carry off. I love mixing and matching it gives me liberty in many ways. I love my black and blue denims.
Who are your favourite designers?
I love high street fashion! My favourites are River Island and Miss Selfridges.
For winter wear I enjoy wearing The North Face and Uniqlo, then my go-to brand would be Gucci and Chanel. I love the leather pantsuits of Dolce & Gabbana. Among Indian designers I would say Papa Don’t Preach, Sabyasachi and Falguni Shane Peacock.
You are also a great host and you have hosted big events such as Shaadi by Marriott, H&M Kolkata launch, events for Satya Paul, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Pernia’s Pop-Up, Ritu Kumar and more. Do you recall the first event you hosted?
My first event was so long ago... (thinks).... It was for my all-time favourite, Anita Dongre.
What are the primary qualities of a good host?
Hard work, labour, soft skills, being groomed, smart attire, knowledge of the product, networking, vocabulary and loads of love and luck! A host should be prepared for any kind of situation in an event but the warmth of the host should never fade away.
What do you love the most about hosting a party or an event? Tell us till date which was the most fave one?
The fact that each and every person, be it a friend or an acquaintance, makes sure that they definitely drop by with so much enthusiasm and warmth, which makes me feel so glad.
My most favourite one is really going to be difficult to say, but yes, one of my favourites are H&M and Ravissant! Both were unique in their own ways.
If you could host a party for a celeb, who would that be and why?
My favourite actress, Alia Bhatt. I love how she is the leading actress and proved her worth even when people have called her a nepo kid. She has proved that she is not talentless.
Then I want to know how she focuses away from the media glare, like from being a mom at the peak of her career to handling trolling... basically know about a day in her life.
