Fashion designer Rohan Pariyar who has brought corsets back into the spotlight is all set with another marquee event that promises to bring the grandeur and legacy of the traditional piece of clothing. For his Couture 2024 Collection Louis XIV to be launched on February 3, he has chosen The Indian Museum as the venue. Here's a look at the collection.
The ‘Marchioness’ is an olive green velvet corset paired with a black handwoven zari linen saree. The opulent piece has been adorned with marquise shaped stones along the neckline making it a timeless piece.
This ‘Windows of Versailles’ inspired corset is a colourful brocade corset paired with silk origami pants. It’s something that makes for an elegant day wear.
The ‘le Dauphine’ corset is a classic white piece and from being a part of a wedding trousseau to a ball or even daily wear, the white corset it has maintained its place. Pariyar gives an ode to the classic ‘white and denims’ look with this velvet corset that’s hand finished with intricate lace work.
The ‘Madame de Montespan’ is a classic black corset, named after the mistress of Louis XIV. Adorned with a string of crystals dropping from the neck line and delicately draped sleeves, it has been paired with a trumpet cut or fish tail style skirt for a perfect red carpet moment.
The ‘Maria Theresa’, named after the Queen of France and wife of Louis XIV, is one of the most ornate pieces in the collection. Featuring intricate Baroque motifs hand embroidered on velvet and stitched on a gorgeous ash and gold brocade this corset is paired with a silk robè a la Française, a silhouette original to the French court.
