EA’s latest FIFA game goes big on women’s club football teams

Players will have the option to experience both men’s and women’s international football by using a post-launch update

With the Euros on, there is an interest in the women’s game and EA is adding its twist to the next release of FIFA release. The company has unveiled the first trailer and gameplay details for FIFA 23, and, among other changes, the game includes the addition of women’s club teams from the top leagues in England and France.

Gamers will be able to choose from the 24 women’s club sides in the English Barclays FA Women’s Super League and France’s top flight, D1 Arkema “extending its position as the world’s most authentic football experience”.

Players will also have the option to experience both men’s and women’s international football by using a post-launch update to play the FIFA Men’s and Women’s World Cup tournaments.

A few days ago, EA Sports revealed that Chelsea and Australian forward, Sam Kerr will become the first female player to feature on the global cover of the Ultimate Edition of the game alongside French World Cup winner, Kylian Mbappé.

EA first introduced women’s international teams in the 2016 edition of FIFA, but the inclusion of club teams is a big move forward. FIFA 23 also introduces cross-play functionality and what EA describes as “the next evolution of HyperMotion2 technology” for a more realistic gameplay experience.
