How lovely you look, Dia! What is the secret of looking like Dia Mirza? Inner peace and happiness?

Yeah, you answered the question. I think it’s genetics and inner peace and happiness. As you grow older, you become more aware of the nonsense that you don’t want to make accommodations for in your life. I am in a very happy space. Of course, everybody has ups and downs but when you are so rooted in your being and you are so clear about your purpose and life gives you these incredible opportunities to really fulfil the full potential of your being, there’s something that happens to every person and then it starts reflecting.

Do you love white?

I love white and I have always loved white and it’s interesting that I haven’t been wearing a lot of white of late. There was a time when I used to wear it a lot. Perhaps that’s why when I got into this garment today, it felt so complete and wonderful.

It’s completely handcrafted and there are pearls and threadwork. The silhouette reflects strength, femininity and grace. It’s everything that I embody and care for deeply and it felt just right.

Are you also a pearl person?

I am and they give you a sense of timelessness and I love that about the Titan Raga collection. I also love the fact that the design is so strong and elegant. I am a watch person, but interestingly, I don’t end up wearing my watches very much. I have to change that, but I enjoy a thoughtfully crafted watch.

Finally, what is it that you do for your mental peace?

I have discovered that there is a superpower in meditation that we don’t propagate enough. I think children should start as early as age eight. It is life-altering and can really bring about a great sense of balance and centre. I always resort to breathing whenever I feel any kind of chaos. I have discovered that when you are consistent with meditation over a period of time, even in the midst of chaos there is quiet and that’s just wonderful to have.

Dhak Dhak (Dia’s latest film) has just been released but even when we were watching some of the previews, so many members of the audience walked up and said, ‘You bring such a sense of calm to the screen’. I was like, that’s interesting. So, I guess meditation is playing some part there as well. I also think it makes you very present in the moment and that’s wonderful to have. Even in your interactions with people, you are not disengaged with anybody and you are connecting with people and you are making real connections.
