The denim trend never dips in popularity. Fashion fads may come and go but denims have stayed relevant—be it the classic denim jeans, comfy jackets or ‘jorts’ (look them up on Instagram!).

Not only are they available in some cool colours (blues, blacks, greys, pinks, purples) but also a number of washes, like stonewash acid wash etc. And they are simply too versatile to be just worn as pants!

This summer, wrap it, button it, zip it and drape it, because we have discovered a number of ways you can wear more denims this season.

Upcycled ethnic wear

Kolkata-based brand Denim Darzi recycles denim waste for their creations. The brand was started in 2020 by Rupali Mukherjee, after she realised that her family had around 30 pairs of jeans that were no longer being used.

“People think denim is just a thick blue fabric. We want to de-mystify this. Denim has so many facets that it is actually unbelievable. Denim Darzi promulgates the belief that ‘denim never dies’. With a small contribution towards a circular economy, we try to repurpose and re-nurture used denim clothing, as well as denim factory waste and surplus because denim, as a fabric, has the capability of lasting long,” says the entrepreneur.

Their denim polka saris and denim dhuti pleats are already making a mark in Tollywood. “When Rukmini Maitra wore our denim polka sari for the launch of Kishmish movie, we were stoked,” shares Rupali.

Bucket hat

If it's good enough for Jennifer Lopez, Ananya Panday and Megan Fox, it’s good enough for us! The bucket hat really has taken over our feeds and with temperatures rising, what better way to shield yourself and look cool? A denim bucket hat is an easy way to incorporate the quirky texture into your outfit.

Go for a patchwork number or even a vibrant and beachy pastel colour to add a sporty element to your look.

Corset

Corsets have become synonymous with power dressing. You can style a denim bustier with a mini skirt or layer it with a shirt underneath. This will add some definition to your curves and create a fabulous silhouette. We are in love with Selling Sunset star Christine Quinn’s unusual denim patchwork bustier by Saaksha & Kinni.

Shirt

Instead of a classic white button-down shirt, go for a denim shirt this summer — be it pastel picks, textured or washed denims. You can also style it as an outerwear for an ultra relaxed fit.

Bag

Utilitarian and sustainable? Sign us up! This brand upcycles fabric denim waste into bags. Not only are they quirky but also sturdy and versatile. They have a number of useful compartments and some unique patchwork as well.

Bralette

A denim bralette clings to your curves and adds the perfect dash of oomph. The tie-up detailing on this number gives you the chance to flaunt your midriff.

Dungarees

The denim dungaree has an unimpeachable cottagecore aesthetic, mixed in with just the right amount of elegant wearability. Pair it with a tube top or t-shirt and sneakers for a relaxed day in or style them with heels for a day-to-night look.

Dress

A denim dress is the best of both worlds. From wrap silhouettes, to midi dresses and bodycons, they work for all body types!
