A brand inspired by the vibrant and colourful prints of Rajasthan, Cottons Jaipur brings its seventh store in the country to Calcutta. Their first flagship store in the city at Sarat Bose Road with its chic and minimal design is your one-stop solution to make some interesting additions to your wardrobe this festive season. Spread across 1,228 sq ft, the store houses tops, dresses, kurtis, nightwear, skirts, men’s shirts, a special festive collection, kidswear, heavily embroidered dupattas in chiffon and kota, and Afghani trousers. Apparels made of pure cotton, mul and cotton silk are perfect for the Calcutta weather. It also houses designer jewellery by Neeta Boochra and Dhora. Fairly priced, comfortable and high-quality apparel produced in-house, Cottons Jaipur’s offerings to the city are impressive.
As we walked into the store for a t2 exclusive first look, a fresh smell of incense in the air and a sense of calm and tranquillity surrounded us. “I’m a calm person and I wanted a similar calmness to reflect in the store,” said owner of the Calcutta store, Sanya Pandey. She co-owns it with her husband Aditya Pandey and they’ve set up a comfortable space for you to have a unique shopping experience.
“It’s a new beginning for me. I have always worked in the corporate sector where I was given a specific role. But now I have to be the role setter. This is my venture and it adds more responsibilities to me. As I always wanted to have a business of my own and am fond of clothing, this is the perfect setup for me. I resonate with this brand a lot. I have been wearing Cottons Jaipur for almost two decades now, and I haven’t come across a more comfortable fabric. We also have designer jewellery by Neeta Boochra and Dhora, and this makes me really proud. I thought of keeping a lot of indoor plants in our store to make it a more tranquil space,” said Sanya
The impressive interiors have been done by the Eastside Office. The beautiful wooden furniture at the store has been sourced from Ahmedabad (from where the pan-India Cottons Jaipur stores source it). Cottons Jaipur fulfils their corporate social responsibility by supporting causes like UMANG, an NGO that works for the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy, autism and multiple disabilities, and the moment you walk in, you’ll see a cute corner displaying bahi khatas (diaries) made by the children of UMANG. It funds Kachnaar Charitable Trust, which promotes rural development of Rajasthan in Bhairupura village, near Alwar. The warmth in the store is going to give an edge to your shopping experience. t2 gets you snapshots from the store:
