Happy hues welcomed guests at The Loft, Snowball Studios, in Mumbai, on August 25 to celebrate Swedish brand IKEA’s 80-year legacy in home improvement. The event, IKEA Iconic, was hosted with Erik Jan Middelhoven, home furnishing and retail design manager at IKEA India, and Susanne Pulverer, CEO and chief sustainability officer of IKEA India, representing brand IKEA at the event. Apart from its 80th-anniversary celebration, it was also a celebration of IKEA’s five years of retail success in India, with three large-format stores operational in Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai and Bangalore, two city stores in Mumbai and online stores in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Gujarat and Bangalore. Revelling in the success of the brand, IKEA announced the launch of its limited-edition collection, inspired by its 80-year-old journey, called ‘Nytillver

This section featured the 1980 Klippan sofa in a candy yellow colour. Its iconic Bladhult pattern of 1980 was also on display. And, the Mammut stool, which was nominated for furniture of the year when launched in 1994

This specially curated and crafted collection, showcased at the event along with IKEA’s all-time favourites, has been designed for a tribute to the most-loved, popular and classic IKEA designs, revived with modern twists, improved material and a vibrant makeover. Nytillverkad, which in Swedish means ‘newly made’, features time-honoured pieces of the brand that have been reimagined with its core brand values of democratic design involving form, quality, sustainability, affordability and functionality. The touch of modern aesthetics in design and contemporary choices render the enriched playful tones to give a statement look to modern homes.

The range featured at the launch includes classic furniture, bedding, and accessories. They have not only been iconic globally but have been popular in Indian homes, too. The POÄNG armchair, the KLIPPAN sofa, the LACK side table, and the BILLY bookcase have been purchased by millions of customers in the last five years. From the Nytillverkad collection, the products on display included the BONDSKÄRET coat stand, the DOMSTEN stool, and the LÖVBACKEN side table, all reimagined iconic products with a modern taste.
