Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II launch on PC and consoles is around the corner and it will offer more flexibility around how you complete missions and pulse-pounding gunfights.

Picking up from where the 2019 title left off, the iconic operators of Captain Price’s iconic Task Force 141 return while players are dropped into the middle of a global conflict. Task Force 141 features Price and some familiar faces — Simon “Ghost” Riley, Kyle “Gaz” Garrick and John “Soap” MacTavish while a new ally arrives in the form of Colonel Alejandro Vargas of the Mexican Special Forces. You get reintroduced to General Shepherd from the original campaign and Modern Warfare 2019’s Kate Laswell.

The player is put to the test as General Ghorbrani’s second-in-command Hassan Zyani vows revenge. Hassan plans to launch missiles against US targets and it is up to Task Force 141 to stop this from happening.

The campaign will take you around the world, like Amsterdam, Mexico, Chicago, and even parts of Al Mazrah, the fictional setting of Warzone 2.0’s map.

There are 17 missions — Strike, Kill or Capture, Wetwork, Tradecraft, Borderline, Cartel Protection, Close Air, Hardpoint, Recon By Fire, Violence And Timing, El Sin Nombre, Dark Water, Alone, Prison Break, Hindsight, Ghost Team and Countdown — some of which clock in at upwards of 30 minutes. Some of the missions are on a grand scale, offering movie-style action. Vehicle chase sequences are also common to Call of Duty campaigns, and the new offering will not be an exception.

One of the talking points online has been its realistic-looking missions, especially the one set in Amsterdam (missions Wetwork and Tradecraft). Wetwork takes place in Amsterdam and players are tasked with diving into the city’s canals to get inside Al-Qatala barge while Tradecraft shows public areas in Amsterdam.

Though the game is generating a huge buzz, one needs to remember that the game is launching at a tricky time, when there is an ongoing war in Ukraine. Nonetheless, if you are interested in the game, it launches on October 28 (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S)
