Falguni Shane Peacock collaborated with Renu Oberoi Luxury Jewellery for their showcase at the Hyundai India Couture Week 2023, in association with Reliance Brands, an FDCI initiative, held in Delhi recently. The husband-wife designer duo showcased ‘Renaissance Reverie’, which was “a fusion of the Renaissance period and rich Indian culture”, “deriving inspiration from museums, art galleries, vintage stores and combining them with Indian techniques”. The jewellery complemented the dreamy mood. Renu Oberoi chatted with t2 on the showcase.

What kind of jewellery did you have in mind for ‘Renaissance Reverie’?

Our jewellery isn’t confined to the ‘Renaissance Reverie’ era; it effortlessly slips into it, like a timeless melody that resonates through the ages. This unique ability to transcend time and era is the cornerstone of our brand’s artistry, showcased in our first campaign post that spanned across decades, illustrating how our designs remain ever-relevant in every passing epoch.

The palette was pastel and the jewellery added the colour. Can you tell us about the play of contrasts?

The play of contrasts was deliberately planned. It not only brought the FSP ‘Renaissance Reverie’ campaign to life but also aimed to demonstrate the versatility of our jewellery. But at the core of it, it’s not about merely fitting into a specific period’s style but rather about fine jewellery crafted with gemstones like rubies, emeralds and sapphires, which is our brand’s forte to work with. It’s this combination that harmonises with FSP’s couture collection to leave a lasting impact.

What are bridal classics when it comes to jewellery?

Our bridal classics redefine tradition by capturing the essence of the ‘Renaissance Reverie’ era while possessing a contemporary edge. These pieces become a reflection of the bride’s distinct persona, effortlessly integrating into the chosen theme, yet remaining a symbol of eternal beauty, cherished beyond any particular period.

What did you think of the jewelled sehras?

We didn’t do any fine jewellery for the men at the show. They were accessories by FSP themselves, but I have to say that the men’s jewellery at the show shattered the notion of men in jewellery. It was very stylishly put together.

What are your top tips for bridegrooms who want to wear jewellery?

Embrace the philosophy of “less is more” when selecting your jewellery. Seek out elegant simplicity in sleek statement pieces or classic accessories. Let your innate confidence radiate, and you’ll effortlessly exude charm. Remember, sophistication lies in the art of restraint.
