Skincare brand Umatr, founded by Shimana Gupta Chawla, recently presented a masterclass on self-styling and grooming with model Nayanika Chatterjee, in association with Mastermentors Interactive, B.C. Sen Jewellers and JW Marriott Kolkata. The audience present not only got a glimpse into Umatr and its range of products but gained insight into the basics of grooming and how it can help with self-confidence, among other things.

“Umatr means Uma, which among many other things means tranquillity and ‘matr’ means Mother Earth. It’s a message to at least attempt to give back to the planet some of what we receive. We have been in the skin industry for a while and we find that there are many non-authentic products even though they advertise to be otherwise. I wanted to move away from that. We do not use plastic, use recycled paper and employ less-privileged women. We want to be a skincare brand with a difference,” said Shimana Gupta Chawla.

During the pandemic, the sessions had taken place online but with the situation getting better, we are now organising more interactive and offline sessions as well,” said Suraj.
