Indo-Western done right: Dress your princess in a ghagra-choli or a halter and long skirt with mirror work on it, and for the young man, let the attire be jeans with a panjabi. The shoes ought to be comfy, and while a tiara can be an accessory with the ghaghra for the perfect princess look. A funky play watch or ripped jeans can add some fun to the looks.

The cutest Barbiecore versions: Dress up the girlie in a pretty sharara sari in a shade of pink or peach for some Barbiecore. Add a sleek pendant and a complimenting hand chain or bangles. Put on a bindi and make mini braids with colourful clips on them. If it’s a boy, a gender-neutral coord set works perfectly. A watch is a must for the little dashing dude, and crocs or sneakers with quirky socks to complete the look.

Ladies, you rocked Durga Puja, now it’s time to turn heads on Diwali. Mix n’ match and pick up your best heirloom weave for your perfect festive looks.

Go funky: Jazz up the traditional look with an anti-fit crop top with a tightly draped mul cotton sari. Make thin pleats of the pallu and pin it on the shoulder, and add a brooch and a sleek leather belt to finish the look. Pair it with contrast colour sneakers or ankle length boots, and chrome nails. Wear an armlet in studded silver or copper hues and ear cuffs. Put a bindi a little higher on your forehead. Focus on your brown game (thick and mushy is in vogue) and go for nude eyes with clear mascara. Add a pop colour on the lips and put on a bit of blush. Add a septum ring or a nath if you fancy.

Heirloom love: If you have a Banarasi, garad, jamdani or any other sari from the family treasure trove, slip into that this Diwali for an all-out ethnic look. Team the sari with a backless choli, a halter neck blouse or a deep cut blouse to add some oomph. Wear heirloom statement earrings like a kaan pasha or a chandbali and a bala or a chur. Add a sleek string of jasmine garland around a low messy bun, and loose curl a few strands framing your face. Focus on smokey eyes and brighten it up with mascara, an illuminator based dewy makeup and a peachy lip colour.

Something traditional and a dash of funky is all you need for comfortable but ramp ready looks.

Dapper ethnic fits: Will you be in an indoor party with no dancing plans? Go for a bandhgala in monochrome or an angrakha-cut kurta in white with matching embroidery and a churidaar. Add a brooch and nagra chappals in a similar or contrast colour tone. Wear a statement watch and geometric pattern ring. Don’t forget to groom the hairline and facial hair, and even some coverage compact powder,if you wish, to complete your look.

Traditional and quirky: A gamcha dhoti coord set is stylish and ticks off the wish to sport something traditional. Go sustainable with jute chappals and wear a neckpiece with a prominent locket, and you are ready!
