Soumyadip Dutta, outlet chef, Farzi Cafe, Kolkata gives The Telegraph a sneak peek of the menu. “People like to enjoy brunches during the winter. We are an Indian bistro and although our flavours are focused on that, we have included continental ingredients to our dishes. There is a good palate for continental food in the city as well so, there is something for everyone,” he said .
Any meal without a dessert seems incomplete but at this brunch, you will be spoilt for choice. There are traditional sweets like gajar ka halwa and rosogolla but also, delicious pastries, blueberry cheesecake and a light and fluffy red velvet cake. None of the desserts are overpoweringly sweet and in fact, the fresh blueberries in the cheesecake cut through its richness, making for a perfect end to the meal
The main course is an extensive affair. (From l-r) Almond and Water Chestnut Kofta Curry, Chicken in Oyster Sauce, Mutton Rogan Josh, Murgdum Biryani, and Dal Tadka along with Kaju Barista Pulao (centre). The kofta is soft and sweet while the rogan josh is lightly spiced with thoroughly cooked mutton. The chicken in oyster sauce is a thick gravy preparation with hints of sweetness. Both the pulao and biryani are light and not overpowering in taste
Customise your phuchka with an extensive variety of fillings and top it off with the light and flavoursome khatta paani. The crunchy phuchkas are the perfect size and you can customise the level of spice that goes into it as well
There are a variety of parathas available as well with fillings of gobi, aloo and more. We tried out the Paneer Paratha which was thin and soft and came with sides of aachar and dahi. The filling was mild but delicious
