The Telegraph checked out the variety of special cakes at Flurys and here’s getting you the deets.
Festive Cakes: Be it Bengali New Year, Durga Puja or Id, there are a range of fun and quirky festive cake options that will add charm to your celebrations. We particularly liked this rosogollathemed cake that looks almost like a real bowl of the famous delicacy. For some festivals like Janmashtami, customised vegetarian cakes are also available.
Artistic Creations: If you want the cake to be not just a dessert but a major talking point at your event, then you can also opt for these artistically designed cakes that incorporate a lot of elements along with chocolate art. We love this nest-and-bird concept that almost looks like a showpiece.
Kid’s Birthday Cakes: As kids most of us had our birthday cakes done by Flurys and now with time they have dedicated fondant artists to create even better birthday cakes with animated features, cartoons and characters.
Specialised Cakes: Our t2 birthday cake would be the ideal example of specially customised items made by the team at Flurys. It had different elements from each of our beats ranging from food to fashion, screen, music, tech, travel as well as the newspaper layout too. You can get similar cakes by explaining your vision to the Flurys team.
Wedding Cakes: We’ve all seen the usual white wedding cake with a fondant bride and groom dressed in a gown and a tuxedo. Adding a local charm is this beautifully done Bengali wedding cake that incorporates elements like a bride and groom dressed in their traditional attires. This is a great talking point at any wedding celebration. You can customise for your anniversary or engagement too.
“We at Flurys believe cakes are for all occasions and we have been part of every celebration, be it baby showers, birthdays or weddings, over the years. We have a cake for everyone, from a single person to big groups, even for weight-watchers. Though we are a 95+ year brand, we keep upgrading our team to keep up with the new trends. This year we have introduced cake in a box which has got a fantastic response from our guests and our customised cakes in both Kolkata and Mumbai area, across all our outlets. Our CYO and antigravity cakes are getting a great response. We are also now focusing on live cakes, where we can get any cake ready in less than an hour,” said Rajesh Singh, national head, Flurys.
