Winter is almost at the threshold and The Telegraph dropped by for a sumptuous sunny lunch at the newly-opened Craft Coffee Experience Centre in Salt Lake FD Block. Spread across three levels and over 3,000sqft, the space is done up in their signature white, with varied textures on different walls.
Greenery wraps the space around from all directions, with over 500 different varieties of indoor as well as outdoor plants. The ground floor has closed as well as open seating in the backyard. The first level has closed seating with two quaint balconies ideal for those that want to make the most of the winter sun and nip in the air. The last level is the terrace that’s open and also has a manual brewing zone.
The centre also has a gourmet shop that will retail coffee beans, equipment, chocolates and merchandise. The menu is similar to that of their Ballygunge outlet, with a few new entrants, such as the Guacamole Toast, Ginger Honey Lemon Cascasra and Cascara Sangria among others. The best part? This cafe too is pet-friendly and also has a pet menu for your furry friends.
The Telegraph gets you a first look.
The vibe of the experience centre remains the same as the Ballygunge outlet. The white walls here have a different hand-touched texturing. Handmade jute and clay pendant dome lights, greens big and small, as well as simple wooden furniture are strewn across the property. The ground floor also has a dessert display, while the first floor has the chocolate and bread display kitchen.
The terrace has huge green plants lining the perimeter and a manual brewing machine as well. Here half the area is open and the other half has a thatched roof sort of canopy but is open otherwise. The vibe is a very natural, organic, rustic yet charming one.
This is one of the sweetest spots in the property and there are two of these on the first floor. The balconies overlook the greenery in Salt Lake and are an ideal winter date spot.
Sip and Bite
Ginger Honey Lemon Cold Cascara: Popularly also known as the coffee cherry tea, this cascara has the goodness of ginger and lemon that lend it an aromatic flavour.
Pizza lovers do try this crunchy bite, the Pizza Caprina. A thin-crust base with toppings such as bell peppers, onions, jalapeno, black olives and American corn.
The High Protein Breakfast Platter is a great plate for weight-watchers to indulge in as it packs the goodness of sunny-side-up eggs, chicken sausage, boiled chicken, chicken salami, and mushrooms.
A dessert fit for the Gods. This decadent pastry has dark chocolate and orange, a combination that’s agreeable in almost all forms.
Roasted Spring Chicken in Mushroom Jus: Whole chicken/half a chicken depending on your choice is cooked in the oven and served with a mushroom glaze dip as well as mashed potatoes and veggies. A filling shared meal.
Tender Coconut Cold Brew is a refreshing sip for sure. The zing of the coffee is balanced well by the smoothness and coolness of the tender coconut.
