The two-decade old Shimla Biryani opened doors to its new outlet at Chinar Park recently, giving Kolkatans another spot in the city to indulge in their specialities. Arguably Kolkata’s favourite food to the point that it is a part of food debates and competes with its cooking style and taste of other origins, a new biryani spot in the city is always worth exploring. Except in this case, the 20-year-old brand brings to people its familiar and comforting flavours, served at a 2,800sq ft Mughal design-inspired eatery. Other new and signature Mughlai dishes of the brand also feature on its menu, like a range of kebabs, side dishes and mocktails. What sets apart Shimla Biryani’s biryani is its light but flavourful taste, allowing patrons to get their fill.
“We have been serving the city for the past 20 years and our USP is our biryani, which is light and flavoursome. We were happy and motivated with the response of our outlets located in VIP Bazaar and Topsia, hence we decided to expand in north Kolkata. For this outlet, we chose Mughal-inspired architecture as our decor theme, giving the space a feel of fine dining for people to visit with friends and family. Along with biryani we also serve a wide range of authentic Mughlai and Indian cuisine for our customers. Our ultimate goal is to enrich the customer experience by serving them quality food at an affordable price,” said Wasim Akram, owner, Shimla Biryani.
