The restaurant is spread over 3,000sq ft carpet area and can seat 97 guests. Done in natural tones with pops of colour here and there, the decor is minimal but has subtle design elements that link it to the cuisine it serves. The ceiling is covered in hand-spun fabric mixed with paper and has a metallic effect. A bright blue bar is contrasted with tones of brown, copper and brass that reflect against the ample sunlight streaming through massive French windows.

After bringing national brands such as Ping’s Cafe Orient and SAZ to Calcutta, restaurateur Drishleen Sethi is all set to launch her new conceptual Indian dine den, Madam G, that will serve regional Indian and coastal grub but with a slight offbeat flair.

This area can easily be turned into a private dining section and also be cleared off for private parties. The most striking feature here is a hand painted wall that Drishleen and her friend created together. It also has a partition door that separates it from the rest of the outlet and is covered in ikat fabric on one side and silk on the other.

The ceilings have lights in the shape of matkas and copper-toned walls, and a lot of rattan is used in chairs as well as lamps in the space, further adding to the Indian vibe.

Ghewar Burrata Chaat: Italy meets Rajasthan in this chaat that has a savoury ghewar as the base, topped with burrata and berries and served with a yoghurt, mint and date chutney. You won’t stop at just one bite.

"Our menu represents regional Indian cuisine but in a unique way. We have combined international ingredients into local dishes with a spin. A great part of our menu also has coastal dishes from different parts of the country. Our desserts and ice creams also work around the same concept," said executive chef Tanmoy Ghosh.

“This is the first brand that I developed. I wanted to have a name that signifies the progress that a woman entrepreneur has made. Madam G personifies women in everyday life. At the outlet, we have women in every department and this has been a conscious effort. The idea behind Madam G is for it to be a fun Indian eatery where guests of all ages can come in and relish some good food but with a nice twist to it,” said Drishleen Sethi, owner and founder, Madam G.
