Music can certainly make food and drink more enjoyable. You know what we are talking about — a sweet indulgence may ‘sound’ like an Ed Sheeran ballad and sour notes can touch on Taylor Swift’s out-of-the-box way of looking at the world or appetizers can be all that jazz. Visitors to Wasabee — at South City Connector — may have felt it on World Music Day.
A few days earlier, the idea was tried and tested by Pandit Tanmoy Bose, who also happens to be one of the founders of Wasabee. He was kept company by members of his musical brainchild, Taal Tantra. Souptik Mazumdar and Hiten Mukherjee filled the atmosphere with tunes on the violin and guitar, Tamoghna Mukherjee, aka Bihu, and Shiladitya Bose, aka Arcane, brought in a different charm with the tumba (Latin percussion) and drum machine (electronic drums).
Pandit Tanmoy Bose is always overjoyed to see people around him happy, be it through music or food. “What could be a better occasion than to bring back our special dishes, all aptly named by us? We had several challenges sourcing raw materials during the pandemic, so we had to discontinue these dishes for a couple of years. I am glad that things are back to normal and Wasabee is all set to delight its guests. Even if these dishes are now available through online food delivery apps, one can enjoy them while dining in the aesthetically-pleasing outlets of Wasabee at South City Connector and Deshapriya Park.”
His sentiments are shared by Bonnya Bose. She said: “Music and food are two of my favourite things in the world and I love making others happy with these two things. It’s a pleasure to spend World Music Day with music and reintroducing these dishes of Wasabee after the pandemic. Wasabee never fails to delight its customers and we are aiming to keep our standards as high as before. It’s nice to have such a session here in Tanmoy’s presence, who is always on international music tours.”
What followed were some Wasabee favourites — Kodo Crab Platter, Fusion Bekti, Hibachi, Sushi Boat, Chicken Satay, Dak Gui, Tom Kha soup and, of course, Wasabee’s special ice cream.
A Japanese delicacy, Hibachi is a delicious sizzler, served with an aerated beverage, chicken miso soup, sautéed exotic vegetables, steamed rice and a choice of dessert. It’s a meal fit for two.
Chicken Satay is another popular pick at Wasabee and it includes grilled chicken skewers marinated with spices and served with mouthwatering peanut sauce. Divide the six pieces between two people.
