A slice of Kolkata added a sweet touch to the Ambani-Merchant wedding reception in Mumbai on July 14, when Kookie Jar served a selection of six cakes, featuring signature and fresh flavours.
The iconic confectionery from the City of Joy was earlier part of the culinary contingent at the pre-wedding festivities in Jamnagar, too.
“We prepared six different varieties of cakes in large quantities [for the Mumbai wedding reception], focussing solely on gateaux to highlight our western dessert specialities,” said Puja Kapur of Kookie Jar. “The cakes had slightly unusual flavours to offer a taste of something different and new.”
The star-studded event showcased six delicious flavours — ranging from a sinful Single Origin Dark Chocolate to a unique and different combination of Madagascar Vanilla and Toblerone.
The Kapur sisters — Lovey and Puja — who recently visited Paris during the French Open this year, were inspired by the trend of fresh ingredients and fresh berries seen in French patisseries. They embraced this with The Raspberry and Blackberry Cheese Cake, loaded with the freshness of berries.

Another standout was the Sicilian Lemon Mimosa Cake with Blueberry. The Lemon Mimosa is a new Kookie Jar signature flavour available at its Kolkata shops, but the one at the Ambani wedding had a twist — blueberry.
For the celebration of love, a Fresh Strawberry & Pistachio Cake made it to the super six. “Strawberry is an aphrodisiac,” said Lovey, “and it makes a wonderful combination with pistachio”.
Despite the soaring costs of chocolate, the Single Origin Dark Chocolate and Almond Nougat Cake was a must-have, ensuring only the best for the best! The Madagascar Vanilla and Toblerone Cake offered a “distinctive, novel flavour profile”, while the Chocolate Hazelnut Charlotte Mousse Cake was “a cake with a layer of our famous Charlotte mousse”.
“It was a success with every last bite of our cakes enjoyed by guests,” signed off Puja.
