Mumbai and its fave khau gallis are famous all across the country. Loaded with delicious street food, these gallis or lanes are a treasure trove where one would get anything from Pizza Sev Puri to Grilled Sandwiches.
SodaBottleOpenerWala, the national food chain that’s a subsidiary of Olive Bar and Kitchen Pvt. Ltd that partnered with Gourmet Venture Pvt Ltd as franchisee owners for its South City Mall outlet, has rolled out a delicious Khau Galli menu that’s curated in partnership between SodaBottleOpenerWala’s chef Omkar Kshirsagar and Girish Chhabria and Ritu Rohra from A Garnish Bowl.
The easy-on-the-pocket menu has six dishes upholding unique taste and way of cooking. “Kolkata has always loved street food and Bombay has its own signature dishes that are loved by all. This is chef Irfan’s (Pabaney, country head, SodaBottleOpenerWala) idea. And since we are located in a mall where we get varied type of people who are foodies, we wanted to offer them something new to enjoy,” said Aayush Killa (in picture), local partner, SBOW.
The Telegraph tried the menu with actress-MP Nussrat Jahan as special guest and here’s how it went down.

Aloo Bomb Chaat: Nothing spells street food like chaats and this one is a bomb! Rajma, baked potatoes tossed with spices and chutney along with chopped tomatoes, onions, chillies and topped with goat cheese, this one is a must-try. Rs 325
Chicken Egg Kachori: As interesting as it sounds, this delicious item has kachori stuffed with minced chicken and masala boiled eggs. It’s packed with spices and flavours; savour it with mint chutney for best experience. Rs 425
Raw Banana Vada Pav: Bombay’s famed Vada Pav got a twist with raw banana filling along with cheese, spices, green chutney and sandwiched between grilled pavs along with a stick that makes it look like lollies! Rs 225
Meetha Baida Roti with Rabdi: A unique dish on the menu, this dessert has crispy fried paratha in triangular shape filled with an unusual filling of green peas halwa topped with rabdi, blanched almonds and saffron. Rs 345
Masala Khari: A crispy baked item on the menu, this one has khari stuffed with mushroom, creamy spinach and topped with cheese, cherry tomatoes, jalapenos and olives. Rs 345
“Let’s dig in and binge?” went Nussrat as she struck a pose with Raw Banana Vada Pav and Two-Way Corn. “I loved the spread here. Honestly, when I am in Bombay, I love their sandwich with the green chutney, it’s yum! Vada Pav is of course a very popular street food that’s equally delicious. Today I tried the chaat and that was yummy. This is my cheat phase and I am going to eat my heart out till I get back to clean eating,” said Nussrat.
