Lovers of ‘Bangali khabar’ and Satyajit Ray in Rajarhat can now drop by at the popular chain’s 10th outlet

Popular Kolkata restaurant chain Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor launched its tenth outlet in New Town on August 4. The theme of the outlet is ‘Amlaki Rajar Darbar’ from Satyajit Ray’s film ‘Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne’

Rajiv Kumar Paul, the owner of the restaurant chain is an avid Satyajit Ray fan, and the chain is his tribute to the director. Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor, which now also has an international branch in New Jersey, will be opening its eleventh outlet in Hatibagan before Durga Puja. The New Town chapter is a partnership venture between (left) Paul, and (right) Aditi Mitra and Rwitobroto Mitra
The launch event was attended by popular names of the film and television fraternity. (L-R) Bangladeshi actress Apu Biswas, actress Sayantani Ghosh and Indrajit Lahiri of Foodka were among those present
Elements from Ray’s movies, and tributes to him are present in every nook and corner — framed stills of scenes from the film, glass paintings, folk art murals, a statue of Bhooter Raja and a grand chandelier
The event had a grand spread of 14 Bengali dishes, including some rare recipes. The dishes were placed near one of two signature walls of at the restaurant, which showcases unforgettable lines from the tales of Goopy and Bagha
The gastronomical delights started with ‘Aam Panna’ and moved to (centre) ‘Koraishutir Kochuri’, (left) ‘Kosha Aloor Dum’ (left) and (right) ‘Dimer Devil’
Also in the menu were ‘Matarshuti Paneer Bahari’, ‘Gorom Bhaat’, ‘Basanti Pulao’, (left) ‘Pabda Shorshe’, (right) ‘Kochu Patay Bhapa Chingri’ (right) and (centre) ‘Rajbarir Kosha Mangsho’
The delicious feast ended on a sweet note with ‘Papad’, ‘Aamsotto and Khejurer Chutney’ before a sweet ending with ‘Rosogolla’ and ‘Mishti Paan’
When at this outlet, don’t forget to check out the mural right outside the restaurant. The artwork deserves a moment and is perfect for a photo-op
