Biryani and Kebab Festival, in association with t2, held at Ecospace Business Park from December 13 to 15, was a food lover’s paradise. Participants like Biryani by Kilo, Karim’s, Sabir’s Hotel, The Great Biryani Co, Desi Foodiez, Khawab, Wah Janab, Sylph Chocolates and Nalin Chandra Das & Sons, plated up goodies galore. The festival was well attended by office-goers and residents from the New Town region who dropped in throughout the day to gorge on their favourite biryani and desserts. The festival which was previously held at the City Centre Salt Lake had now shifted location to Ecospace to cater to the rising community of corporate workers in the region.
“The aim of this festival was to bring lesser-known biryani companies and start-ups under one umbrella,” said Ramesh Pandey, VP, marketing and events, Ambuja Neotia Group.

Souvik Bose and Debpriya Podder, employees at a private firm in New Town, shared their experience of visiting the festival for many years now. “We have bought biryani from Karim’s and Sabir’s Hotel. Now we will be getting sweets from Nalin Chandra. This festival has been happening for long and we love coming here and exploring the variety of options available," they said.
“Our speciality is Gondhoraj Biryani. We in Calcutta have witnessed the tremendous popularity of gondhoraj momo and I thought why not give that same twist to the biryani as well?" said Sankha Saha, owner, Desi Foodiez.
"The outreach over here is absolutely amazing. Our specialities are our fish kabiraji and chicken biryani and I am thrilled with their sales. I have participated in this festival before and every year, the crowd is on the rise,” said Subhomoy Saha of Khawab.
