These cookies can be easily made by little chefs at home this festive season.
Ingredients
- 2 cups butter
- 1 cup castor sugar
- 2 tbsp vanilla extract
- 4 cups all-purpose Flour
- Strawberry jam / or any flavoured jam
Recipe
- Mix butter, castor sugar and vanilla extract
- Add all-purpose flour halfway through the mixture and mix again
- Place parchment paper on baking tray
- Make small dough balls and place them on parchment paper
- Make thumb impression on each dough ball
- Fill the thumb impression with strawberry jam or jam of your choice
- Bake at 180 degree centigrade for 12-15 minutes and you are ready.

If you like your cookie mildly spicy, then these sugar-coated spiced cookies are perfect for you.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- ½ cup castor sugar
- 1 cup maida
- 1 tbsp spice mix (cloves, cinnamon, star anise, black pepper)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp milk
- Dusting flour to roll out the dough
- Icing sugar for garnish
Recipe
- Mix castor sugar and butter
- In a separate bowl mix maida, spice mix, and baking powder. If you do not have a spice mix, you can use only cinnamon powder.
- Add dry ingredients into the castor sugar and butter mixture and continue mixing.
- Halfway through, add an egg. If you prefer eggless then skip this step.
- Add milk. If you prefer eggless then add condensed milk.
- Once the mixture is ready, roll the dough.
- Use a Christmas themed cookie cutter to cut out cookie shapes.
- Bake at 180 degree centigrade for 14-15 minutes.
- Sprinkle icing sugar for garnish.

Gingerbread is a people’s favourite during Christmas. This easy recipe gives you the simple steps of making your own gingerbread cookies in a wreath. It is also a perfect handmade gift for your loved ones.
Ingredients
- 1½ sps. dried ginger powder
- 2 cups refined flour (maida) + for dusting
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon powder
- ¼ cup castor sugar
- ¼ cup milk
- ½ cup melted butter
- 4 tbsps golden syrup
- Glaze
- 2 cups icing sugar
- Drops of green food colour as required
- Drops of red food colour as required
Recipe
- Mix refined flour, baking soda, cinnamon powder, ginger powder, castor sugar, milk, melted butter and golden syrup to form a dough.
- Refrigerate dough for an hour.
- Mix icing sugar and water and divide mixture into three halves.
- Add red and green food colouring to two halves. Leave the third as natural.
- Divide dough into two halves. Roll out the first half. Use circular cutters to cut out a wreath shape. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 180 degrees.
- Roll out the second dough half. With the use of a cookie cutter cut Christmas tree, gingerbread man, stars etc. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 180 degrees.
- Use your choice of icing to decorate the cookies.
- Place them on the wreath with the help of icing sugar and you are set.

Ingredients
- ½ cup soft butter, room temperature
- 1/3 cup sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- salt
- 3/4 cup plain flour
- ¼ cup corn flour
Recipe
- Mix butter, sugar and vanilla extract till mixture is smooth and fluffy
- Add salt, corn flour and plain flour to the mixture and whisk
- Use spatula to beat the mixture to make it smooth and creamy
- Pour mixture into a piping bag
- Lay baking tray with a parchment paper
- Pipe out the mixture to form circular cookie shapes
- Bake at 165 degrees of 333 Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes or till the edges turn light golden brown

Who doesn’t love a good chocolate cookie during Christmas? It’s the season of cheat meals, right? Here’s a quick no-bake cookie recipe by our very own Kolkata chef, Sneha Singhi.
Ingredients
- 300g Marie biscuits
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar
- 4 tbsps cocoa powder
- ¼ cup melted butter
- ¾ cup milk
- Melted dark chocolate
Recipe
- Blitz the marie biscuits in a mixer till finely ground.
- Add powdered sugar and cocoa powder and mix.
- Add melted butter and mix well till you reach a sandy consistency
- Add milk and knead the dough.
- Shape it like a cylinder. Place it on a butter paper roll. Tightly lock the ends.
- Freeze for an hour
- Start cutting disc shaped cookies from the cylinder
- Dip them in melted dark chocolate or use shaved chocolate and sprinklers for garnishing
