City Centre New Town was back with its Chaat Festival in association with The Telegraph. Held between from August 26-28, it was bustling with hundreds of people from various parts of the city who stopped by to experience the flavour of India’s spicy, tangy, and mouth-watering chaats. Maya Ram, Sai Vada Pav Center, Gupta Brothers, Chaat Chatur, Hedua Chaat, Agarwal’s Pav Bhaji, and Nalin Chandra Das & Sons took part in the festival to serve up tasty treats.
Dahi Papdi Chaat, Dahi Samosa Chaat, Special Vada Pav and Phuchka Shots were most popular! The latter was a selfie favourite.
The festival’s decor and ambience were feel-good, with beautiful lighting. The stalls had colourful menus and art to attract the crowd. The stall crew engaged in light-hearted conversations and explained the ingredients that had gone into the dish.

Father Abhishek Sil dropped by with daughter Ayushi Sil at the festival. “My daughter and I are enjoying this very much. She is really happy getting to eat so many snacks and explore the stalls,” said Abhishek.

Special Pav Bhaji: The Special Pav Bhaji at Agarwal’s Pav Bhaji reminded us of the times we indulged in our comfort food where buttered buns and the spicy bhaji made of various veggies and spices made us feel at home. Rs 150
Amritsari Chhole Kulche: This popular pick from Chaat Chatur was a traditionally made dish with a twist. The buttery kulche with chhole was flavourful and was one of our favourites. Rs 120
Phuchka Shots: The concept and the taste of this dish made it the star of the show. The dish was quite simple but the water in the shot glasses made it unique. The crowd gathered at the stall of Phuchka Shots eagerly to try their signature dish. Rs 60
Dahi Vada: Every chaat lover in Calcutta knows about Gupta Brothers’ famous Dahi Vada. This beautiful dish of vada smeared with curd and toppings made for a wholesome treat. Rs 70
Chocolate and Mango Mousse: The only sweet stall in the entire event stood out with its delicacies. These two dishes were their stars and people thronged Nalin Chandra Das & Sons to try them out. Rs 80 each
Singara Chaat: Chaat but with samosa! Two of our favourites came together for this perfect teekha and meetha dish from Hedua Chaat. Rs 60
Mayonnaise Vada Pav: Unique and flavourful, this pav, with a twist of mayo and the buns made it one of the most attractive and tastiest dishes on the menu of Sai Vada Pav Centre. Rs 80
