Shawarmaniac! on Purna Das Road has a lot to offer — the best being exotic-flavoured shawarma cooked on charcoal. The tender meat is then wrapped in rumali roti. This is one of the firsts in the city. You don’t have to book a flight to Hyderabad for some tender juicy, charcoal-cooked rumali roti shawarma. The gooey combined with the smoky taste will take you straight to the streets of Egypt.

It’s a small joint with notes from all who frequent it stuck to the glass door inside. If you’re a true-blue foodie you must try visiting Shawarmaniac!. And you never know, you might become a regular there as well.

Chicken Salad It’s a fresh platter full of grilled chicken, lettuce, bell peppers and a special sauce prepared by tossing mustard and hummus. Price: Rs 210.

Chicken Original Shawarma The breast and boneless leg piece of the chicken is used in this dish. The lean meat and the fat balance out. It’s marinated with Middle-Eastern spices, hummus and homemade mayo. The chicken is cooked over charcoal and wrapped in rumali roti, coated with hummus and mayo and stuffed with lettuce. It’s one of the tastiest in town. Price: Rs 170.

Chicken Wings The recipe is mom-made and the owners Sushmita Nag and Mohana Gupta are the masters of the dish.

Shawarma on Fries This dish on the menu is a must-try! You’ll get a bed of French fries, charcoal grilled chicken dressed with peri peri sauce, mayo and garnished with tomato and cucumbers. Price: Rs 200

Butter Chicken Shawarma Made with delicious butter chicken masala sauce, onions and coriander, this dish is an Indianised version of Lebanese cuisine. The butter chicken cooked on charcoal adds a smokey flavour. It’s famous as the ‘juiciest shawarma’ that the frequenters have ever had in Calcutta. Price: Rs 190
