Raasta, the Caribbean lounge that opened right on Park Street in Celica Park in February, has launched a new menu. “Few months into operation we realised what was working and not working on the menu. Our food menu has been a great hit, even if people have few drinks, food everyone loves here. During the weekdays we have steady groups coming in to eat here. And by observing we realised Kolkata loves meaty options and seafood, so we amped that up. That aside we have got a lot of dim sums and other vegetarian options for our guests,” said Praveen Jaiswal, local franchise owner.
The new menu offers a bouquet of dishes — from quick nibbles like sandwiches, wraps, pizzas to complete meals in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
“The idea behind the new menu launch is simple. We want to give our patrons something new and exciting to come to Raasta for, while keeping their favourite dishes from the old menu intact. We have kept in mind the sensibilities of this beautiful city and introduced food that will suit our palate. We hope our guests love the new menu as much as they liked our previous menu,” said chef Mohar Ali Mondal, head chef, Raasta.
The Telegraph tried the new offerings and here’s what we loved.
What: New menu
Where: Raasta
Timings: Sunday-Thursday (noon to midnight) Friday and Saturday (midnight to 2am)
Meal for two: Rs 1,500 (without alcohol) Rs 2,400 (with alcohol)
Raasta Seekh Wrap: If you are looking for healthy rolls, try these with succulent seekh kebabs filling and with a wrap of Indian flat bread with onions. A great substitute for kathi rolls.
Jamaican Curry Goat with Shut Roti: If you are looking to try something different this festive season, try this staple Jamaican goat curry that looks like kosha mangsho but has heady dose of more Caribbean spices. Relish this with flaky parathas.
Gambas al Ajilo: Kolkata loves seafood. Keeping that in mind the new menu has lots of prawn items. We digged into creamy and delicious butter garlic prawns served with herbed garlic bread.
Ham & Cheese Waffle Sandwich: This unique freshly made savoury waffle sandwich is loaded with decks of ham, cheese and veggies that will fill you completely. Bonus? Crispy French Fries on the side. #BingeOn
Artichoke Pizza: A dish on the new menu that deserves a try is this thin-crust artichoke pizza that’s simply perfect. The combination of artichoke and cheese as topping is a clear winner.
Tofu Katsu Curry: Indulge in this wholesome dish comprising herbed rice, creamy Katsu curry and triangle- shaped fried tofu.
