Winter warm up: Calcutta Swimming Club organises a highly energetic mini-marathon

With the onset of winter in Calcutta, The Calcutta Swimming Club organised a highly energetic mini-marathon. On a December morning, with the winter breeze blowing, members and participants of all ages and from all walks of life gathered at the venue to gear up for the marathon at 3am. The run categories included 15km, 5km and 10km in two loops, and the participants enjoyed the beauty of Calcutta early morning as they ran by the city’s notable spots like Eden Gardens, Fort William, Strand Road, Calcutta High Court and others. Yummy breakfast was waiting back in the club for all the participants on reaching the finish line. “Always concentrate on how far you’ve come, rather than how far you have left to go is the sure shot mantra for the marathon. CSC hosted one of the season’s first marathon and we had a record no. of participants this year in 3 categories. I would like to thank the entire sports committee and staff of our club for pulling off such a big event so professionally,” said president of CSC Siddharth Jhunjhunwala. t2 captured a few moments from the mini-marathon.

General manager of Novotel Kolkata and a running enthusiast, Arjun Kaggallu also participated in the mini-marathon. He said, "Thanks to CSC for the run. I love to explore Calcutta by running and thanks to the club, I could explore new routes for running. The marathon was very well organised with hydration points at perfect pitch spots. Looking forward to many more marathons in the city."(right)

"Unprecedented participation, unbelievably vibrant energy and super motivation! That's how this edition of the marathon was. Kudos to the team ably led by our marathon convenor Bharat Bagla and a special word of appreciation for the club staff without whose efforts this would not have been possible," Rahul Singhi, sports chairman of CSC.
