Indian classical music, poetry, gourmet meals and finely aged wine transformed the evening of March 23 into a magical experience for members at the Wine and Cheese event at the Calcutta Club, hosted in association with Bordeaux & Antares. Indian classical music played softly in the room as sommeliers Pratik from Bordeaux and club member Smarajit Mitra kicked off the evening with an introduction to the history of wines. Guests tried a variety of red and white wines like Old-World Antares Sauvignon Blanc, dry Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc, Antares Cabernet Sauvignon, Bordeaux Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon, and many more, accompanied by mouth-watering vegetarian and non-vegetarian light bites. Wine and Cigar chairperson Anusua Das summarised the evening in her own way. "There is a huge popularity for this programme among the wine connoisseurs of our club and we befittingly get overwhelming responses from members. This edition was very special for the delicious food paired with a best-in-class wine. Every attendee was ecstatic after seeing the decor, format and finesse of the evening. The Wine and Cigar sub-committee worked very hard to ensure seamless execution of the event," she said.
