Art Installation

Inspired by the immersive world of metaverse that replicates our physical world and also has an ecosystem of its own, House of AC has ideated a phygital installation called Made Up Matter to explore the changing landscape between the physical world and meta world. Whereas our physical world is made up of raw materials like concrete, sand and wood, the meta world is made up of pixels and data. The installation in two parts will explore the existence of objects in both the physical and digital space, where pixels will reveal the shape of an object in the digital space and physical objects made of raw materials will represent the physical space.

“As a furniture manufacturing company we usually work with various raw materials during the production of our furniture. I find it very amusing to see and notice the built physical world. As a product designer, I find inspiration in seeing how big and small objects are built from the smallest unit of the raw materials. With this installation, I wanted to break down both physical and digital raw material,” said Aman Choudhary, creative head at House of AC.

Going by the theme of ‘Dimensions’ this year at The India Story, Encounterkraft will surprise visitors with its movement installation. The installation is about the encounters between bodies. Designed and devised by Paramita Saha, it is co-created by independent and established dancers from the collective called Continew.

“As a space for current trends in lifestyle, fashion and art, TIS stands out as a progressive and radical platform for creativity. It is exciting to have an opportunity to add contemporary performance to this eclectic mix. To locate a body in space we need three dimensions or coordinates of space and time. These dimensions intersect when there are many bodies leading to many layers of complexity. The installation will unpack and explore some of those complexities through movement,” said Paramita Saha.

“Dimensions define the tangible limits of a space. Though experiences are infinite, feelings are intangible and always limitless. Dev R Nil takes up the challenge to capture the limitless feelings that flow through India Story and have named their installation ‘What is Beyond Dimension?’.

The installation is conceived to push the limits of the given dimension and create a transformed experience,” said Nil, one half of Dev R Nil, who will present an installation at this year’s TIS.

“Art Exposure developed from an insatiable passion for art in 2018. Embodying a legacy of art, the gallery envisions a platform to attain a harmonious equilibrium through an exquisite blend of modern and contemporary art. Our aim is to strengthen the bridge between modern and contemporary art through our curatorial programme and research-oriented publications,” said Somak Mitra director of Art Exposure that will showcase their work at TIS.
