Vidhatri Urs wins big at the IGU West Bengal Ladies and Junior Girls Golf Championship

Three days of intense action unfolded at RCGC

The 2024 IGU West Bengal Ladies and Junior Girls Golf Championship 2024 concluded at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC), showcasing some of the finest talents in women’s and junior girls’ golf. In a thrilling competition held over three days between May 22 and 24, Vidhatri Urs of Karnataka emerged victorious in the Ladies division. Urs demonstrated exceptional skill and consistency, shooting a remarkable three-under-par 213 across three rounds (70, 74 and 69). Her performance secured her the top spot, setting her apart as a formidable player in the tournament.

Jahnavi Prakhya of Gujarat finished as the runner-up in the Ladies division. Despite a challenging start with a round of 82, Prakhya made a strong comeback with subsequent rounds of 72 and 71, finishing with a total score of 225.

In Category A Girls, Punjab’s Mannat Brar claimed victory with an impressive total score of 214 (72, 70 and 72). Her consistent play over the three days earned her the title, while Anvvi Dahhiya of Haryana finished close behind with a score of 217, securing the second position.

Category B Girls saw Karnataka’s Dia Cris Kumar take the lead with a score of 235. Ayesha Gupta from Delhi followed closely with a score of 236, finishing second in this fiercely contested category.

The Category C Girls division concluded in dramatic fashion. Punjab’s Rabab Kahlon and Delhi’s Anushka Gupta were tied after three rounds, each with a score of 250. The tie was broken in a tense play-off, where Kahlon triumphed on the first hole, clinching the title and leaving Gupta in the runner-up position.

The IGU West Bengal Ladies and Junior Girls Golf Championship 2024 highlighted the promising future of Indian golf, with young athletes from across the country displaying remarkable talent and sportsmanship. RCGC once again proved to be a magnificent venue, challenging the players with its historic course and providing a memorable backdrop for this event.
