Serving and retired servicemen took part in a programme at Eco Park on Friday to celebrate 50 years of the 1971 Liberation War that led to the birth of Bangladesh as a nation. A “victory flame” celebrating the golden jubilee of the victory has been moving all over the country since December 16, 2020, when it was lit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. A reception for the flame was organised at Eco Park.

Mimi Chakraborty, member of Parliament, was the chief guest at the programme. Military dignitaries from the army, air force and navy were among the participants. Chandrasekhar Ghosh, CMD, Bandhan Bank, and actor Abir Chatterjee were also present.

A military band’s performance and the screening of a film on the Liberation War were the highlights of Friday’s programme.
