An atmosphere filled with relaxing family vibes defined Indian Life Saving Society and t2 present Utsav’s Christmas celebrations. Kicked off on the evening of December 24, the celebrations continued day-long on Christmas Day with an assortment of programmes, activities and entertainment in store for people of all ages. City-based music band Wagah Road started off the proceedings on Christmas Eve with an exciting set consisting of retro and modern-day disco tracks and innovative mash-ups. As night progressed, DJ Sachin Marwaha charged up the crowd with his brand of energetic dance tracks in Hindi and English. The party people enjoyed to the fullest as music and spirits flowed freely, creating an out-of-the-world experience for members and their families and friends.
Christmas Day lunch was a traditional, formal affair at the club, with people turned out in their best and brightest. A gala kids carnival held in the afternoon had games, goodies and prizes galore for the little ones. The celebrations were capped with a fashion show by club members. Glimpses.
Actor Sneha Das (right) was partying with her friend Moutrisha Sarkar. “I am enjoying the cosy atmosphere and I wish I could have stayed longer. But I have to leave early as I have a shoot tomorrow morning,” said Sneha. “The night is still young. I want to party and dance all night long,” Moutrisha said.
Traditional decorations such as Christmas trees and a Santa Claus playing the saxophone greeted guests as they stepped into the club lawn on Christmas Day
“Every year we do this programme but with each passing year we want to do something new for the club members. Members and their children put up performances and enjoy themselves together. We have also tried to keep several fun activities for kids. We also have actors Neel, Trina and Kanchana (Moitra) with us, who saved time from their busy schedules to come and attend this event,” said the joint secretary of the club’s organising committee, Arijit Kumar.
DJ Sachin Marwaha’s intoxicating cocktail of English and Hindi retro and modern dance tracks and remixes took the party mood to the next level. “It was a great experience to play at the ILSS Christmas Eve party. I also celebrated 25 years of my journey as a DJ. The crowd was very responsive and enjoyed to the fullest. A few hit tracks of the night were Jamal kudu, Jeene ke hain char din, Tamma tamma loge and many more,” he said.
“The best part of this year’s celebration is the participation of both senior and junior members in large numbers. Young couples could attend the 24th night with children which helped in wider involvement of members. It is heartwarming to see how our members are enjoying every event. Kudos to all the committee members for creating an electrifying atmosphere in the club. Year after year this great century-old institution is establishing itself as a most sought-after social networking place,” said ILSS president S.S. Mukherjee.
Wagah Road belted out toe-tapping, energetic dance numbers that got the crowd in the mood for dancing all night. “Wagah Road performed for the first time at Anderson Club and we were really excited to see a sold-out crowd. The energy was really electrifying and the people really enjoyed themselves on the dance floor, grooving to popular old and new Bollywood numbers, along with Western tracks like Bella Ciao and Summer of 69,” lead singer Siddharth Pathak told t2.
